October 14, 2015 -- This week, Occidental College plays host to Chapman University for a conference football game. Occidental College plays in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), and going into Saturday's game, the team sits with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. Of course, a lot of work and preparation must go into the process of carrying out the game itself. Even though this is the case, I was very unaware about some of the actual bare bones details that go into hosting and carrying out an NCAA athletic contest. On this day, I was to proofread and verify all of the information on the football program. These programs will be used for Saturday's football game, so accuracy is at a premium. I was able to proofread and update the program, and I even discovered 3 mistakes to change. I never put thought into it, but something as small as the event program is still a piece of the pie that is an NCAA sanctioned varsity sports contest.
