April 15, 2016 -- On this Friday, the campus was alive and buzzing with all of the events that were taking place. There was the final open house of the year, a small orientation for next year's incoming freshman, and their seemed to be lot of campus tours going on. One of the tasks that I was given for the day was to just pick up some paperwork from Human Resources across the campus. I also spent some of the day helping with entering the vital information for some possible recruit prospects. This was done for Women's Soccer, as the Head Coach, Colm McFeely begins his recruiting process. About a month or so ago, he attended a showcase in Hawaii where he was able to view some of the nation's best soccer prospects. When he returned, we spoke briefly and he mentioned that there were coaches from Division I schools there as well. In all likelihood, players of that caliber will not attend a Division III school such as Occidental, but there are many more talented players that show potential. These are the diamonds in the rough that smaller schools can land, and they are sometimes passed over because of their lack of size or perceived skill level. It is interesting to think that as I enter the information of these prospects, they can turn out to be the foundations of future teams.
