March 30, 2016 -- Today, I was asked to assist with some of the end of the year activities that are fast approaching. Mike Wells, my mentor, is also the Sports Information director and he asked for some help with gathering photos. As the end of the school year draws to a close, it also signifies the end of many of the seniors' athletic careers. Being a former athlete myself, although I never officially played in college, this can be a bittersweet time. For many athletes, "hanging them up" can be quite difficult because throughout their playing life, they often do not stop to think that it will all come to an end athletically.
My assignment was to find photos of all the senior athletes in action during their respective athletic contests. I was able to take care of 4 of the varsity sports for both men and women. Football took more time than the others because there were more players, and also because there were more photos covering the action. The chosen photos would be reviewed by Mike to make sure the athletes are visible, and to also see that the photos are in good taste. These photos will be shown during the end of the year banquets for each sport, and also during the grand banquet for all sports. As an athlete, it is the final touchstone for a long career, so I made sure that the photos were worthy of use.
